Welcome to Trout Jockeys, a blog for fishing reports and stories about fly fishing. I have spent the fall in a variety of locations, from small streams to large waters throughout upstate New York. Even though I am new to fall fishing, it seems to be a tricky time of year to be on the water. The bugs hatch sporadically (or not at all), the water levels are difficult to predict, and the trout just do not seem to be where they were in the summer. As frustrating as these changing conditions can be, it is what keeps fly fishing interesting. As the seasons change, the fishing does as well. The majority of "anger talk" I hear in the fall seems to be about Steelhead fishing. I have not graduated to that level yet. Instead, I have spent much of September in the Genegantslet Creek in Smithville Flats, NY and most of October in Cold Brook in Bath, NY. Cold Brook has yielded a few Rainbow Trout with beautiful fall colors, and Brown Trout as well, while "the Genny" has been quiet. Enjoy the pictures!
